Electrical Engineer I, II, III or Sr.

Position PurposeProvide engineering and technical support for all aspects of design, layout, and construction related to transmission substations.

Required Education & ExperienceBachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited school.  Valid driver’s license.
 

Preferred QualificationsEducational background and coursework in power systems.  Three to ten years transmission substation engineering and/or field experience. 
 

Job DescriptionSubstation design in areas including but not limited to site, civil, geotechnical, general arrangement, foundation and equipment, elevations and sections, grounding design, conduit and cable design, bills of materials, protection, AC and DC distribution systems, material specifications, environmental regulations and safety.
 
Develop project scope, estimate and schedule, engineering drawings, bid specifications and contract awards, field support during construction, economic and cost analysis, project documentation for new installation and upgrades.
 
Work with consulting engineers, outside services and equipment manufactures to provide effective materials and designs as required. 
 
Provides dedicated project and technical support to address processes to comply with NERC Standards unique to the company’s transmission protection and substations organization. 
 
Ensure work complies with all required standards and codes.
 
Implement company project management procedures and documentation systems.
 
Project management or provide support to project manager for all aspects of substation design and construction projects.
 
Perform or assist with the development of engineering standards, goals, objectives, budgets, programs, and procedures.
 
Regularly review assignments and drawings to assure optimum efficiency and cost effectiveness.
 
Plan and control all activities so as to provide an accident-free work place.
 
Perform a variety of routine tasks that will improve the individual’s familiarization with the engineering methods, practices, and programs of the company’s transmission planning & substations department.
 
Performs other duties and projects as directed by management.
