JOB: Quality Engineer LOCATION: Cockermouth, Cumbria STATUS: Permanent SALARY: £34k - £36.5k depending upon experience plus benefits My client is looking to appoint a Quality Engineer for their exciting, innovative business in Cumbria. This is a full time, permanent position. My client, a long-established company, are at the forefront of exciting technologies. You will support the company in its achievement of strategic objectives through the provision of a technically strong Quality support function, involving both assurance and control aspects. You will be involved in projects and day to day support of both internal and external customers and suppliers. There will be an emphasis on the reduction of defects through rational improvement and adherence to established process controls. The key responsibilities for this role are: * To provide inspection support on "at risk" processes * To assist the Technical and Product Development Teams with new product introduction and improvement initiatives * To act on behalf of the Quality Manager as "sign off" authority for customer concern responses * You will assist with the development and use of appropriate statistical techniques for process control and improvement * You will maintain departmental and site Quality metrics and Key Performance Indicators (KPI) * You will provide dimensional reports for internal and external customers * You will assist inspection with Measurement System Analyses * You will support customer and regulatory approval audits and represent the Quality department at internal and off site meetings as required, which may include supplier audits. * You will support all areas of the business as necessary and liaise with other departments - for example technical and operations, to ensure delivery of conforming products * Supporting audits both internal and external * Lead problem solving and continuous improvement activity * Produce and deliver training materials * Develop and maintain relationships with key customers, suppliers and approval authorities * Provide support to the wider Quality team and provide support to the wider business, as required This role is for an existing Quality professional. You will be quality focussed and have the ability to challenge current working practices. With excellent analytical and problem solving skills, you will have (ideally) AS9100 and ISO 9001:2015. You will understand and be able to implement Quality Tools; Process Flow Mapping; FMEA; APQP/Control Plan; PPAP; SPC; QOS (MOS/BOS); MSA; 8D; Poke-Yoke etc My client would expect you to have excellent communication and leadership skills and the ability to analyse and think logically. Self motivated, you will be able to achieve targets and have great team working abilities. Experience of SPC software, eg. Minitab, NWA or Static QC or similar is required. You will need to demonstrate measurement and inspection skills, with the capability to read and understand technical drawings. Experience of a manufacturing environment is essential, and you must be able to demonstrate experience of complex problem solving and continuous improvement activities.
