Opportunity to become part of a globally recognized environmental and sustainability consultancy in their Glasgow office. They are seeking an Associate Director or Technical Director to join the Civil Engineering team, offering the successful candidate a chance to shape the future of their Civil Engineering division.
The Role:
As an Associate Director or Technical Director specializing in Civil Engineering, you will lead an experienced and talented team, ensuring high-quality project delivery and the continued growth of their Civil Engineering services. You’ll be responsible for managing day-to-day team operations, supporting business development, and fostering client relationships.
The team currently manages a diverse range of projects, including infrastructure, residential, commercial, industrial, and renewable energy. You’ll have the opportunity to work on a wide variety of projects, including highways design, drainage and flood risk assessments, earthworks, 3D modelling, and technical reporting, from planning through to construction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the management of the Civil Engineering team, including workload coordination, budget oversight, and mentoring staff.
- Lead business development efforts, identifying new opportunities and nurturing existing client relationships.
- Collaborate with other teams, bringing together complementary skills from structural, geotechnical, and health & safety teams.
- Manage multi-disciplinary projects, ensuring timely delivery to budget and quality standards.
About you:
- A degree in Civil Engineering.
- Chartered status with the ICE (MICE or FICE).
- Proven technical proficiency in civil engineering with a strong ability to write detailed reports.
- A demonstrated history in business development and client relationship management.
- Leadership experience, including team management, development, and mentoring.
- Expertise in UK highway design standards (e.g., DMRB, MCHW, Manual for Streets).
- Experience in drainage design, including residential, flood alleviation, and SUDS.
- Knowledge of UK health and safety legislation, including CDM Regulations.
- Experience with quality control and oversight of drawings created in AutoCAD.
- Strong project management skills and a proven ability to deliver projects successfully.
- A full UK driving licence.
