Position Summary

A national engineering firm is seeking a Team Leader, Transportation to grow and lead a multidisciplinary transportation group in the Oklahoma market. This role combines people leadership, client development, and hands-on project delivery for highway/roadway design and related transportation infrastructure. The right candidate will have strong technical expertise, proven leadership, and a track record of advancing opportunities in the region.


What You’ll Do

  • Lead a team of transportation/roadway engineers and technicians; report to the Regional Strategic Development Leader.
  • Leverage regional networks to expand the firm’s presence and client base.
  • Build and maintain positive client relationships across projects and accounts.
  • Support pursuit management: identify opportunities, assemble teams, and contribute to proposals and negotiations.
  • Supervise and mentor junior staff; provide technical leadership on project delivery.
  • Serve as Project Manager or Roadway Task Lead on large design initiatives; ensure QA/QC and on-time delivery within budget.
  • Coordinate with design teams, subconsultants, and project partners to meet requirements and approvals.
  • Liaise with clients, agencies, and stakeholders to determine project needs and obtain necessary approvals.
  • Provide technical leadership for PS&E design projects; act as a senior technical resource as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • Licensure: OK PE required; ability to obtain TX PE within 6 months is preferred.
  • 15+ years of highway/roadway design experience.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and team-building skills.
  • Proven track record in developing new clients, managing pursuits, and preparing proposals.
  • Ability to review others’ work for accuracy and manage time to meet budgets and schedules.
  • Knowledge of budgeting, proposal writing, invoicing, and accounts receivable management.
  • Technical expertise across design methods and familiarity with relevant design software (e.g., Bentley MicroStation, GEOPAK, OpenRoads) and MS Office.
  • Willingness to travel as needed; some in-office work in Oklahoma with opportunities to engage in nearby markets (e.g., Texas).
