Introduction

Are you experienced in the construction management and supervision of tertiary building works? Then, make your contribution to exciting and dynamic construction projects on the CERN sites in Switzerland and France within the most unique particle physics laboratory in the world: CERN. Take part!

Functions

As a superintendent, you will be responsible for the construction management and supervision of large tertiary building works.

You will:

• Actively participate in the execution design coordination and procurement procedures for new tertiary projects in close collaboration with the project manager;
• Monitor the consultants’ deliverables during the construction phase in close collaboration with the project manager;
• Coordinate on-site interfaces between the contractor and various CERN specialist services;
• Supervise the execution of the work and ensure, in liaison with the appropriate external consultants (architects, structural and MEP engineers) that all new construction complies with the contractual drawings and specifications;
• Organize the worksite according to the construction schedule;
• Monitor the progress of work and control quality and budget in close collaboration with the project manager;
• Be proactive in enabling identification of issues/potential issues and prevent them from occurring on the worksites;
• Manage any defects that do arise in close collaboration with the project manager; 
• Witness any testing and actively take part during the commissioning stage;
• Make sure all safety measures are put in place on the worksites.

Qualifications

Higher technical diploma or equivalent relevant experience in the field of construction management, civil engineering or architecture or a related field.

Experience:

The experience required for this post is:

• Demonstrated professional experience as a superintendent/construction manager of large tertiary building projects.
• Proven experience with high-quality architectural projects and the coordination of structural, MEP and IT/AV/security packages.

The following will be considered as an asset:

• Experience working with international and multi-cultural teams.
• Experience in mass timber or multi-storey wood construction.

Technical competencies:

• Organisation, planning and control: including cost controlling and supervision of work.
• Quality management
• Knowledge of tertiary building construction and renovation.
• Construction management.

Language skills:

Spoken and written English or French: ability to understand and speak the other language in routine situations.

Employment Conditions

• Work during nights, Sundays and official holidays, when required by the needs of the Organization.
