Product Engineering Manager

We are looking for a highly motivated, skilled and experienced Product Engineering Manager with a background in welding and fabrication, with broad experience and detailed knowledge of product manufacture. From our base in Capel Hendre, near Swansea, we design, manufacture and supply our wide and varied product range. Most of our processes are in house; we laser-cut, bend, fabricate, weld, powder coat and paint, along with the assembly and delivery of our products throughout the UK and Worldwide. We also supply components and assemblies on a sub-contract bases, supplying OEM’s and steel fabrication companies throughout the UK. Experience/ background: * Highly experience and knowledgeable in the area of steel fabrication and welding * Engineering/Product management and the management of significant projects * Held a senior role including the management of Technical Office and Engineering functions * Mechanical/structural engineering HNC/HND/ degree qualified * Management of welding approvals, CE certification and welding co-ordination * Ability to implement manufacturing processes, methods and techniques and work to tight deadlines within a highly responsive SME business. * A detailed understanding of the production and finishing methods for a galvanised product range – desirable but not essential. Role / Responsibilities : * All aspects of the product and its manufacture, post design freeze. * In conjunction with the management of Technical and Engineering staff:- * Generation of production drawings, support information, work instructions, training documents, data bases etc * Jigging methods, the production of jigs and jig control * Management of welder qualifications, welding procedures and NDT * Quality Management Procedures relevant to the area * Process improvement and cost reduction * Add to overall senior capacity of product and Engineering Management, processing and development * Development of Production Engineering processes – see these through to successful implementation * Lead product engineering projects * Carry out specific hands-on functions to do with the support and development of Altron’s product ranges, and develop controls and processes to enable these to be delegated as the business progresses Personal attributes: * Self-motivated with high personal standards and expectations * Proactive problem solver, a leader in solutions and their implementation * An eye for detail and the ability and commitment to see details through * Well organised, with the ability to manage multiple projects and prioritise affectively * Strive to maintain and improve standards * Ability to lead a small specialist team * Communicate clearly and be authoritative on issues within your area of responsibility Benefits : * Company pension scheme * Healthcare * Profit share scheme * Free parking Job Type: Permanent.
