Job Description

Your responsibilities

Contribute to the engineering design of interfaces between the Tracker and the rest of the CMS detector, encompassing support mechanical elements, tooling, thermal interfaces, and service channels. Validate these designs through mock-ups, and oversee the fabrication and quality control of the final structures. Additionally, assist in the integration of the Tracker detector at the CERN Meyrin site.

Your profile

Skills and/or knowledge

  • Design and analysis of mechanical structures.
  • Knowledge and application of numerical modelling in solid mechanics.
  • Production of 2D drawings and 3D models.
  • Manufacturing of mechanical parts.
  • Fluent in English, the ability to work in French would be an advantage.

Eligibility criteria:

  • You are a national of a CERN Member or Associate Member State.
  • By the application deadline, you have a maximum of two years of professional experience since graduation in Mechanical Engineering (or a related field) and your highest educational qualification is either a Bachelor's or Master's degree.
  • You have never had a CERN fellow or graduate contract before.
  • Applicants without University degree are not eligible.
  • Applicants with a PhD are not eligible.

Contract duration: 24 months, with a possible extension up to 36 months maximum.

This position requires:

  • Work in Radiation Areas.
  • Interventions in underground installations.
  • Residence in the immediate vicinity of the Organization's installations.
  • A valid driving licence.

  • A monthly stipend ranging between 5119 and 5631 Swiss Francs (net of tax).
