Job Role: BLDC Phase Motor Design Engineer Job Type: Perm/Full Time Salary: £60,000-£80,000 This is an opportunity to be part of a very special team that is growing and is creating tomorrow’s technology today. This role is for a candidate to specifically simulate, design and test new BLDC motor controllers for our UAS applications. You will take the design from low TRL to high TRL level, to be produced by our production team for our vehicles. This is an opportunity to build robust and future ready hardware for our drone fleet. Full time role for an immediate start. Candidates must be eligible to work in the UK without visa sponsorship. This is not a suitable role for a graduate as it requires several years of acquired knowledge and practical experience. The Role: As an Invertor / ESC Design Engineer, you would be involved in many aspects of UAV platform development, from the design and development through to production and later mid-life updates. This is an excellent opportunity for someone wanting to build on their design experience and to be involved in the next generation of UAV technologies providing superb learning and development opportunity for you and the ability to influence the creation of innovative solutions. This role offers a unique career move, as it gives the opportunity to experience the complete view of the design, development, and testing process through interaction with other engineers, suppliers, and clients. Responsibilities: * To take new controller designs from low to high TRL level, and directly deal with technical issues relating to the electrical / electronic design, development, and manufacture for the UAV speed controllers * Analysis of simulation data and real-world testing to evaluate and refine system performance· Liaise with other engineers to resolve production and design issues * Design of test procedures to ensure systems meet the current standards· Interface with the rest of the engineering team and manage customer expectations throughout the development process * Responsible for controlling personal workload and identifying any further resource need Skills and Experience Required: * Electronics engineering bachelor’s or advanced degree or with several years of equivalent experience * Designing, testing and integration of 3 phase inverters for Vehicle, UAV or machine applications. * Control algorithms using either BEMF, encoder and hall sensor feedback· Knowledge of uni/bi-polar modulation, and Trapezoidal and Sinusoidal control * Power and drive stage design· Relevant industry or private experience· Simulation and testing· Design for manufacturing/production Desirable: * Experience with PCB design software· Experience in either C/C++ or Assembly software· Understanding of general software development processes * Experience with electric vehicles or unmanned aerial systems· Strong interpersonal and well-developed communication skills (written & verbal) Benefits: * Salary negotiable and dependant on skill levels and experience * Company Pension scheme plus insurance benefits * Company 24-hour healthcare support line * Three-day long weekend every fortnight (Fri-Sun) * Freshly cooked all you can eat meat and vegetarian lunch on Friday * Casual dress * Company pension * Discounted or free food * Free parking * On-site parking Job Type: Permanent.
