ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR

We are working with a leading multi-disciplinary consultancy who are seeking an Associate Director to help shape and grow its Structural and Civil Engineering teams within its well-established Reading office.

This is a unique opportunity for an experienced professional to take on a key leadership role—combining team development, client engagement, and strategic growth. The successful candidate will play a central part in driving business development, managing high-performing teams, and contributing to the collaborative culture the firm is known for.

Working alongside a talented group of engineers and specialists, the Associate Partner will take responsibility for nurturing a delivery-focused team that reflects the organisation’s values of technical excellence, collaboration, and innovation.

Responsibilities include:

• Leading business development efforts and maintaining strong client relationships to secure both new and repeat business
• Taking financial responsibility for the performance and profitability of the Structural and Civils teams
• Recruiting, mentoring, and developing engineering talent, including the creation of tailored training and progression plans
• Supporting strategic hires and contributing to broader cross-office resourcing and collaboration
• Representing the business at industry events and promoting its presence in the market
• Ensuring the team remains informed and compliant with evolving industry legislation and standards

Skills & Experience Required:

• Proven experience in a senior or leadership role within structural or civil engineering
• A relevant degree in civil or structural engineering (or closely related discipline)
• Strong business development acumen and existing professional network
• Demonstrable leadership skills, particularly in managing and developing teams
• Evidence of continuous professional development
• Proficiency with key IT and engineering software packages
