The Data Science and Business Analytics programme at the Faculty of Economics is a four-semester, English-language programme that provides students with exceptional knowledge in the area of data science. It combines extensive knowledge and skills in data analysis, econometrics, machine learning, and IT programming with soft skills, making the graduates of the programme highly desirable experts.

This programme is designed for students whose main area of interest is quantitative analysis in economics, finance, business, or the social sciences. Candidates should have a solid background in quantitative (and related) methods, e.g., statistics, probability calculus, and mathematics.

The aim of the Data Science and Business Analytics programme is to train data analysts with broad programming skills, who understand business and economic processes and can easily communicate with business clients. Therefore, the curriculum includes four pillars:

quantitative methods,
IT programming,
knowledge of economics and finance,
soft skills.

An important subject is the 'Understanding Business' course, which provides a platform for business communication, designed to create joint projects in business-university partnerships and identify the business needs of data scientists.

The Data Science and Business Analytics programme is based on R and Python, but also includes other statistical languages and software such as SQL, 4GL, and SAS. The aim of the programme is to equip students with the knowledge and skills to perform complex and insightful data analysis, which will help them make bold business decisions.
