Great opportunity for a Structural Engineer who is currently working towards Chartered status and is keen to join an established team on a full-time permanent basis.
As a Structural Engineer, you will play a key role in managing and providing expert guidance across a variety of projects, both new and ongoing. These include new school buildings, school extensions and refurbishments, residential projects, structural surveys, repairs to historic structures, and a wide range of public sector building developments.
Responsibilities will include:
- Delivering projects on time and within budget, managing work programmes effectively.
- Maintaining strong client relationships while ensuring day-to-day maintenance stays on target.
- Preparing estimates, drafting specifications, managing contractors, and overseeing account approvals.
- Producing designs, calculations, specifications, and risk assessments for building schemes, including tender documentation and supervision of works to completion.
- Creating dilapidation schedules, improvement plans, drawings, specifications, structural surveys, and insurance reinstatement schemes.
- Responding to urgent requests related to dangerous buildings or ground collapse, offering expert advice on the situation.
- Providing construction and refurbishment project advice to clients while promoting surveying services on a fee-paying basis.
- Travelling to other offices when required, and performing duties appropriate for the role.
About you:
- Membership with the Institute of Structural Engineers and be working towards or prepared to work towards Chartered status.
- Relevant experience in a similar or related role.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with colleagues and clients.
- Familiarity with current construction health and safety legislation and asbestos management.
- A current site card or a willingness to obtain one immediately.
