Job Advertisement: Associate Flood Risk Specialist
Location: Edinburgh, Glasgow, Aberdeen, Inverness, or Newcastle
Salary: £52,000 – £62,000, 35-Hour Week

We are currently seeking an Associate Flood Risk Specialist to join our client in Edinburgh or Glasgow.

As a key member of the flood risk and hydrology team, you will play a critical role in delivering high-quality services to a wide range of clients while contributing to the overall growth of the business. Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Management: Manage multiple projects simultaneously with modest supervision, ensuring timely completion and the highest standards of client satisfaction.
  • Resourcing & Work Planning: Collate and track project information on a weekly basis, ensuring all tasks are on schedule and resources are allocated effectively.
  • Design & Assessment: Deliver high-quality flood risk assessments and hydrological studies to support planning applications for projects across Scotland, England, and the UK.
  • Training & Development: Take ownership of your personal training and development, actively working towards chartered status or continuing professional growth.
  • Health & Safety: Ensure awareness and adherence to health and safety protocols, especially when working off-site or in unfamiliar environments.
  • Commercial Awareness: Understand the commercial aspects of project delivery, monitor project profitability, and prepare fee quotations and claims, when necessary, especially if the scope of work changes.

Requirements:

  • Degree: A degree in a relevant field (e.g., Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, Hydrology, or similar).
  • Professional Development: Actively working towards or already achieved chartered membership of a relevant professional institution (e.g., CIWEM, ICE, or similar).
  • Experience: Extensive experience in flood risk management and hydrology.
  • Software Proficiency: In-depth experience with flood risk and hydrology analysis software.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • IT Skills: Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Self-Motivation: A strong commitment to personal development and ongoing training.
