The conference represents the 13th edition of the long-standing ECB Conference on Forecasting Techniques. It aims to discuss recent research on the use of machine learning and generative AI for forecasting and economic analysis, and for solving structural macroeconomic models. However, the scope of papers is not strictly limited to these topics and submissions from all areas of macro- and micro-econometrics  are welcome.

Papers are to be submitted to https://editorialexpress.com/conference/CFT2026/ by 15, December 2025. For further information please see the call for papers on the ECB website (www.ecb.int) or contact conf-forecasting@ecb.europa.eu.

We encourage submissions of papers on the following topics:

  •  AI, machine learning and time series methods for forecasting and risk analysis.
  • The use of generative AI in the assessment of uncertainty and economic sentiment.
  • Causal analysis based on AI methods: Assessing the drivers of economic fluctuations.
  • AI and machine learning methods to develop, solve or estimate structural macroeconomic models.
  • Robust forecasting in the presence of nonlinearities and structural breaks.
  • Assessing the impact of climate change and its economic consequences.

However, the scope of papers is not strictly limited to these topics and submissions from all areas of macro- and micro-econometrics  are welcome.

Stephen Hansen (University College London), Barbara Rossi (European University Institute) have confirmed their participation as keynote speakers
