Is Process Technology right for you? The Process Technology (P-Tech) program at Coastline Community College is a one to two-year program. Students need to possess strong interpersonal skills, be self-motivated and be willing to learn technical skills that will be needed to succeed in Process Technology. The courses are offered online and our instructors all work in the industry. Our industry partners are looking forward to provide internships, interview and potentially hire our Process Technology graduates. Coastline Community College is offering an A.A. degree in Process Technology as well as two certificates. Process and Chemical Technology Process technology takes raw materials like oil and natural gas, breaks them down, and then combines and refines them to make everything from traditional fuel to the newest forms of portable power. Chemical technology picks up where process technology leaves off; it analyzes chemicals for purity of ingredients once they've been processed. The Process Technology (?P-Tech?) program at Coastline Community College prepares you to become refinery, chemical and related industry operators. Process technicians are skilled plant operators who work for refining, power generation, water, oil, waste management, food manufacturing and other related manufacturing companies. Process technicians work with the latest computer control systems, work outdoors taking samples and monitor equipment, and solve problems in a collaborative environment. What you will learn in the program... In Coastline's P-Tech program, you will learn the fundamental principles of process technology including process chemistry, principles of equipment operation, troubleshooting skills, communication skills, safety and environmental principles, and many other practical applications for all the knowledge and skills you learned that you thought you'd never have a use for.
