The international master program BME is the only one designed to train international students interested in developing and improving their skills in engineering as well as in medical sciences and in business.
According to the World Health Organization, “Medical devices are essential for prevention, diagnosis, management of diseases and rehabilitation, to avoid danger and improve efficiency of medical treatments. The aim of development of health, the goals of the coming centuries, suppose the manufacturing, the regulations, the planning, the evaluation, the acquisition, the management and the use of medical devices which are of quality, safe and adapted to their context of use”.
These medical devices go from the simple bandage to very high-technology medical devices (HTMD) like cardiac valves, stents, prostheses, defibrillators, endoscopic instrumentation, MRI, scanners, nuclear imaging, ultrasonic imaging, etc. Such HTMD represents 80 % of the Medical device market and the annual growth is close to 6%.
The Bio Medical Engineering master program provides technical know-how to work on high-tech medical devices. Graduates will be researchers or industry leaders in bio medical imaging, surgical devices, surgical implants, exo-skeleton or computation for patient-specific treatments.
The program is based both on compulsory courses in
- Medical Sciences
Anatomy, Ethics, Regulatory and Bio-compatible materials
- fundamental sciences
Physics, Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Measurements, Control systems and Mechanical Engineering
Regulatory and mandatory Affairs (EC & US regulations), Marketing, management, laws
and on application of every new skills in project-based work.
Students are mentored on a weekly basis by 2nd year student, and twice a month by a faculty member to closely follow their progress and help them to reach success.
Centrale Lille is a leading institution of higher education and scientific research, founded in 1854.
Centrale Lille provides three engineering programs, several national and international Master and PhD programs. Centrale Lille is closely involved in national and international networks and works in collaboration with various higher education and research stakeholders at national, European and worldwide levels.
Centrale Lille welcomes about 1600 students and 25% of the students are coming from more than 20 different countries.
Centrale Lille is fortunate to have an innovative and dynamic research environment through all the laboratories, some of them have experimental equipment that are unique in Europe and even in the world.
This environment is also supported by a large network of institutional and corporate partners, which benefit from the training of our future engineers and students in master programs.
