Description of the SCIFI Demonstrator
UpNext is launching a new flight demonstrator to go a step further to pave the way for more autonomous flights on commercial aircraft.
SCIFI demonstrator aims to demonstrate the ability to ensure safe flight back and landing in the most risky phases to support pilot decisions.
All the outcomes of this demonstration will contribute to prepare more autonomous aircraft of the next decade, regarding pilot workload, error management and automatic flight in case of incapacitation. On top of these technical challenges, this demonstration has to be achieved in less than 30 months.
Team spirit, proactivity and pragmatism will be the key ingredients to make this unique journey successful.
SCIFI team is searching for a Flight Management System Designer (m/f) with a background in FMS development, including trajectory and prediction computation, datalink and/or FMS software architecture and validation strategy.
As a Flight Management System Designer (m/f) your missions are:
Defining flight management architecture for safe flight and landing in case of emergency, in inter-connection with the other aircraft system functions (communication, weather, control ….)
Developing the solution in the frame of the demonstrator, regarding the targeted objectives of demonstration
Contributing to the ground and flight test phases: test plan, function integration in the overall aircraft architecture, test execution and analysis and any other support type to the team, on case by case, like in any start up.
Pragmatic and team minded, you are motivated by the challenge and ready to constantly learn and develop yourself and the others.
Your Boarding Pass:
As the successful candidate you will be able to demonstrate some or all of the following skills and competencies:
Experience in Flight Management System development, including trajectory and prediction computation, datalink and/or FMS software architecture and V&V
OEM experience would be an asset
Strong awareness of navigation function and equations / WGS84
Strong awareness of FMS architecture and design
Ability to work in integrated team with AGILE method
Demonstrated track record of end-to-end project execution
Demonstrated ability to learn and share from each other
