Job Description


  • Boeing is seeking a RADAR Systems Engineer for the Design Engineering team on the Patriot Advanced Capability-3 (PAC-3) missile-defense program.
    • Boeing has a multi-year contract to develop, test, and manufacture the PAC-3 RADAR seeker. This program encompasses concurrent design, test and manufacturing as new upgrades are incorporated into production. This long-term program is growing in Huntsville due to design updates, production growth, and Boeing facilities consolidations.
  • The Design Engineering team is responsible for designing RADAR seeker upgrades and next generation concepts, as well as supporting production and special test equipment design. This Huntsville-based team is small but growing rapidly due to Boeing site consolidations.
  • The Systems Engineer will be responsible for performing system and architectural analysis for the RADAR seeker and special test equipment, evaluate future RADAR seeker design upgrades as a signal processing expert, and provide system concept definition, algorithm definition, waveform generation, simulation development, and data analysis.

  • This position is for an experienced Systems Engineer for the PAC-3 seeker in Huntsville, AL. Note: Through 2018 there will be extensive travel (> 50%) while site consolidation activities are completed.  A Domestic Temporary Assignment to Huntington Beach, CA for 6 to 12 months is also a possibility if the employee and program management concur.


  • Applying expertise in engineering/mathematics to support RADAR RF seeker analysis and design
  • Supports development of mathematical algorithms for radar signal processing and radar calibration and test
  • Supports sensor and phenomenology modeling of RADAR system
  • Supports radar systems predictions and performance analyses
  • Defining system analysis objectives and strategies.
  • Determining courses of action and innovative approaches to complex system performance analysis and solutions.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience): 


This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship.

  • Experience with RADAR or RF system design, algorithm development and/or analysis.
  • Experience performing trade studies and analysis of alternatives.
  • Experience in generating systems requirements with traceability to higher level and flow down to lower level hardware and software requirements.
  • Analog and/or digital signal processing experience.
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
  • RF and signal integrity experience with an emphasis on Printed Wiring Board implementation.
  • Experience with Matlab Simulink analysis and simulation tools.
  • Experience reviewing documentation for Configuration Management.
  • Embedded Processor system experience including software development practices, procedures and validation activities
  • Experience defining test plans, procedures, and reports to validate performance specifications
  • Experience performing failure analysis that includes root cause corrective action recommendations.
  • Power, RF Tx and Rx chain Loss, Noise Figure, and other performance budgets.
  • Familiar with system Interface Control Document (ICD) generation and maintenance.

Typical Education & Experience:

Level 2:

Degree and typical experience in engineering classification: Bachelor's and 2 or more years' experience or a Master's degree with experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
