Fixed-Term Mechanical Design Engineer (Initially 9 months, with a view to making the position permanent) £35,000 - £40,000 Pro Rata The company This companies products are making a significant impact on the industry. The person: The ideal candidate should be a passionate and creative engineer able to contribute to engineering projects and produce innovative solutions for the energy sector. The candidate should be capable of working independently and with a high level of detail, comfortable with communicating and explaining their designs both within the team and to stakeholders. Responsibilities: You will contribute to several of the R&D projects currently underway. Working alongside their multidisciplinary team of mechanical, robotics, electronic and software engineers to further develop their current and future products. You will be trusted you to: Have a genuine interest in technology development Take ownership of projects/tasks under the guidance of your manager Be an excellent problem solver and undertake relevant research Have cross-functional experience Have good analytical skills Be a good team player and be able to work well with others Be familiar with MS Office packages (i.e. Word / Excel / PowerPoint) Have good organisational, multi-tasking and time-management skills Demonstrate the ability for continuous learning and have a desire to improve You’ll need to have: A degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent Experience and knowledge of the ASTM, ATEX standards Experience with 3D CAD packages (SolidWorks, Fusion 360 preferable) Demonstrable background of mechanical design implementation and designing electromechanical systems Research skills (using mathematical modelling to work through new developments and innovations) Experience with industrial motion control systems, hydraulic systems, and piping Experience developing pragmatic solutions and building flexible systems without over-engineering and choosing the simple, straightforward solutions over more complex ones. Proven experience with GD&T, DFM and Design Validation Analysis.
