Environmental Scientist

Job Summary

Cardno is seeking an Environmental Scientist (part-time/on-call) in our Sacramento, California office.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

> Assisting technical specialists in the field with terrestrial biological, aquatic, botanical, water quality, andgeomorphic surveys and monitoring efforts. Lead field studies DOE.
> Conducting research and compiling/summarizing data and information under direction of project managers and/or technical specialists
> Preconstruction resource surveys and construction monitoring activities to ensure consistency with permit requirements
> Entering and managing technical data and preparing graphs and tables, as needed
> Assisting with preparation of technical reports, plans, and permit applications
> Providing general support to project managers and technical specialists on an as-needed basis

Minimum Qualifications:

> Bachelor's degree and 2-5 years' experience in environmental studies, natural resource management, planning or related field
> Excellent oral and written communication skills
> Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word and Microsoft Office Excel
> Willing and able to travel to field sites and other Cardno office locations
> Ability to work well independently and with a diverse, multi-disciplinary team in a fast-paced, team oriented work environment
> Strong time management and follow-through skills, with the ability to simultaneously work on multiple tasks/projects and meet project deadlines
> Self-motivated with strong initiative
> Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship

Desired Qualifications: 

> Aquatic, geomorphic, water quality, terrestrial biological and/or botanical field experience. 
> Knowledge of, and experience with, California flora and wildlife/avian species and habitats
> General knowledge of various environmental permitting processes, especially permits required under Section 401 and 404 of the Clean Water Act, and Stream Bed Alteration Permits
> Positive, flexible, and team-oriented
> Detail oriented and resourceful
> Dive Certification, a plus
> Positive and energetic attitude
