Project Overview 

This position is for an aviation prospect in Ireland. The project has not been awarded yet and offers will be extended post project award. Bechtel will be working in an integrated team with our client to support the delivery of a Capital Investment Plan of circa €2bn within an operating airport environment. 


The ideal candidate would be a team player capable of adaptation to an integrated team environment. A driven self-starter, confident, agile, articulate and capable of leading change by example. Collaborative and flexible to meet all the demands of the client. 


Role Overview 

The Architectural Technologist is responsible for undertaking the detailed design of architectural projects and ensure that all buildings and associated facilities are designed in accordance with codes of practice, building regulations and best international practice. This will include preparing detailed architectural design solutions for various stakeholders, along with acting as an expert advisor on building regulation compliance (including BCAR) to both clients and colleagues.  


Main Responsibilities 

  • Assess project design requirements to ensure they are feasible and in line with the Client’s objectives 

  • Work concurrently on multiple projects through all RIBA stages, managing their interfaces, quality and competing interests. 

  • Ensure compliance with the approved designs during the construction phases 

  • Ensure that detailed designs are completed in accordance with timelines, quality, and cost objectives as set out by the Client. 

  • Prepare design drawings and contract documents in accordance with the Irish Building Regulations and relevant and appropriate Irish / international standards. 

  • Prepare design drawings and specifications that respond appropriately to the Client requirements whilst ensuring compliance with planning, fire, DAC, BCAR and all other building and statutory requirements. 

  • Promote a positive ES&H culture in design, ensuring that best practices are implemented in relation to ES&H. 

  • Manage and oversee the design performance of the external third-party consultants, supporting them to ensure that the best value design outcome is achieved. 

  • When required to, lead an appointed design team in the preparation and delivery of a design. 


Basic & Preferred Experience 

  • Detailed knowledge of Irish building regulations (including Part L, Fire, DAC, BCAR) 

  • Experience in a similar role with a track record of designing and delivering architectural projects from inception, planning, tender, construction and completion. 

  • Experience providing detailed guidance on technically challenging designs. 


  • Ability to prepare and deliver reports and presentations 

  • Ability to use AutoCAD, Revit, NBS Create Specification Writer, MS Office, Sketch-Up (or similar 3D drawing package)
